Goodbye Slideshare, Hello myPlick!!!

After the bad news of this morning :“Slideshare to be discontinued”, the initial disappointment has turned into a sort of good fortune.

A bit of googling to find a possible alternative and testing a few out and MyPlick appears to be a winner.

So I have gone back to the start of the year and created “Plicks” for all of this year’s lessons.

GOOD NEWS: Plick seems to achieve the desired result, in addition it also creates a download link for the audio, so I won’t need to do a separate one in each post.

BAD NEWS: All of the past slidecasts will become inoperative as of April 30. This will mostly affect Year 12. The slidecasts will become slideshows, so a possible solution is to play the link to the mp3 whilst watching the slideshow, you will have to progress the slides yourself.

MY GOOD FORTUNE: As it turns out MyPlick is a free site to use and the user interface for synchronising the audio with slides is actually a lot better than Slideshare. It actually would be worth paying a  subscription should they ever make it a subscription site.

Fingers crossed this will work out to be a suitable replacement.
